I've just been presented a great opportunity and I just figured I would share it with the world. When I lived in New Hampshire I was having so much fun watching my son playing youth football that people noticed. Then one day I was approached by the coaches of his youth football team and they asked me if i wanted to join their coaching staff to help out. Of course I accepted and it was one of the best times in my life. We had a great team that went to the playoffs many times. One year we even won the state championship and went to one regional game in which we lost but this really was the best experience of my life.
When my son started high school I stopped coaching but, never missed one of his games. We really didn't care for his high school coach much but my son still ended up playing for his team from freshman thru senior years. After high school my son did go to college but he did not want to continue his football path. I really think he lost a lot of confidence due to his bad relationship with his high school head coach. Anyway I kind of went into a sort of depression after my kids left New Hampshire to goto college and I started have major anxiety issues.
In April of 2015 I moved to Connecticut to live with my daughter in the other half of the duplex house her and her husband purchased. This was a great move you see she now has 4 children (my grandchildren) with her husband. She has a set of twin boys that are 5 years old, a 3 year old boy and a 1year old girl. I hope you see where i'm going with this. You see, I now have my little proteges. The twins are able to start playing football at 6 years old, so they could start next year.
Now to the end of my story. The other day I contacted the President of the youth football league in my city by email. He replied to me and asked me to call him. I did and he told me that they have a football conditioning program every Sunday that the twins can goto this year. He also asked me about helping out by coaching. He said he was going to give my name to the head coach of the U8 team which has children from 6 to 8 years old on it. The head coach called me and we are going to get together with in the next two week. Bottom line I will be coaching youth football this year for the U8 Meriden Raiders.
